• hi all,

I’m having trouble instaling Google Analytics on my site at http://www.magicmeech.com

I tried the Google Analyticator but, despite putting in what I belive is the correct connection info, I got an error message saying:
“There was an error connecting to the server. Please verify that the settings are correct.”

Is there a way to avoid this and, if not, if there any other way to install Analytics?

n.b. I tried to manually add the tracking code to each of my pages, but couldn’t find the <body> tag on any of my pages.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Oliver

  • Your </body> tag is in footer.php. To install Analytics, follow the instructions at Google.

This does NOT help, because it assumes too many things. Can’t someone SPELL IT OUT for beginners? I’ve downloaded the plugin, and yet no where on WordPress.org do I see step-by-step instructions on where/how to activate the plugin. Can’t someone get more specific, and not defer, with a link, to the Google analytics site????

    copyperson,

This is frustrating, but you cannot just install the GA plugin and expect it to work. Step one is signing up with Google and following the instructions provided there. Once you reach the page where Google provides you with code to add to your web site then you can install the plugin using the information Google provides.

Can you be specific as to what you have done so far? I’ve looked at the link above and it really isn’t necessary to go past step 4, hope this helps.
