Installation problem – running the install script

Hi,

I am trying to install WordPress for the company I work for on a virtual server here that the IT dept have set up.

I have gone through the install process as described on the WordPress site (i.e. download and unzip wordpress package, create MySQL database, set up wp-config file, upload WordPress files to server) and have now got to the stage of trying to run the WordPress installation script.

I’m not sure what to put as the URL to start the install.php file. I have tried the following (the blog will be within the QMSBlog dir):

http://localhost/QMSBlog/wp-admin/install.php

but get “page cannot be displayed” error.

I have tried various variations such as entering the ip address of the server and the server name instead of localhost but get the same problem.

Could anyone help me with this?
