Install WordPress when old WebSite is still running

I have an old web site for BCHRA.org running on an old file server. I have opened a new account on a new web hosting server. If I initialize the new wen site with word press in bchra.org on the new server is that OK? Will people go to the old one until I transfer the domain name or what?
