• Hello, I just recently had my site redesigned (http://u-niquedesignstudios.com/) and I was told that if I want to make edits then I should install wordpress. However if I install wordpress will that mess my current site? This would be installed through godaddy where they already have the plugins.

  • I think someone might have been suggesting you convert your site to WordPress to simplify editing, and that could be quite a project.

Installing WordPress would likely have no actual effect upon your site — you currently do not have an index.php file that would be lost — but that does not mean WordPress would not “take over” and render your current site inaccessible.

Well here is the issue. I had the site almost done but every time I made a edit I would get weird left over tags at the end of the page. I told my developer friend that I was using dreamweaver to make the edits and he told me I should be using WordPress to make the edits and not dreamweaver.

So I noticed that godaddy had the WordPress plugin and was going to install it but wasn’t sure what it would do to my site right now.

WordPress will not edit Dreamweaver content, but WordPress could be used in its place…and you will have to research the matter of the conversion process:

Thank you. I will read what you sent over. So it is not as easy as just turning on the light switch.

Don’t get me wrong. The site was not built in dreamweaver. It is a One Page Parallax Responsive site that I got and then did the editing in Dreamweaver.

So it is not as easy as just turning on the light switch.

Definitely not. WordPress is its own unique platform with its own unique editors and whatever else. After it is installed, you would be able to copy-and-paste HTML code into the “Text” mode of its page editor and then add (upload) any related images. However, WordPress stores actual content in its database rather than as HTML files, and that is where it would be completely different.

Got it! I will let you know how it goes 🙂

One more quick question. Can I create the WP site in a subfolder so that I make sure everything goes correctly and once finished I can just put everything in the root folder?

Yes, that is typically possible, but I am not familiar with GoDaddy and how that kind of thing is handled on their servers.

I tired what you mentioned about copy and paste the code but that didn’t work.

“Text” mode of the page editor is for text and text formatting. I did not mean to say you could copy-and-paste HTML files into there.
