• just tried to install word press and I got the following error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘]’, expecting ‘,’ or ‘)’ in /home/a2600260/public_html/wp-includes/query.php on line 1635

my site is hosted by 000webhost.com

the error happens when I run the install script, I enter the database details, username and password. then the host and it gets past that but then it just stops?

its the default install, I have uploaded the files to the root directory using ftp.

    any ideas 🙂

    thanks

so how do I test the software so I can get used to it?

Try installing WordPress on your PC and working with it that way.

No one else will be able to see your WordPress installation (it will be on your PC only) but you’ll be able to work with it and learn how to use it.

Conversations about web hosts get closed because of the amount of spam they attract so which host to use or recommend is something you’ll need to research yourself.

The WordPress team has provided a list of a few recommended hosting providers. For more details and other recommendations, please search through the forums or via Google (or your preferred search engine).

This topic hasn’t crossed that line yet so I’m not closing this topic. Please focus on getting the software installed.

I can it running on a local pc but I want to see how the seo plugins work and google analytics, I can’t do this from my local pc but understand where your coming from.

the problem with the install on 000webhost is the security restriction they have in place to stop brute force attacks.

I really don’t want to pay for hosting to test plugins that’s why I used 000webhost.

so I’m between a rock and a hard place at the moment and not sure what action to take next.

Then there’s really nothing that we can do for you. As indicated above you need to speak with your hosting provider to solve this. Also as indicated above it’s exactly why you should never use any free hosting.

Edit: You’re just going to have to find another host provider. There’s nothing else to it.

Per the forum welcome that’s not done except in an extreme case.

Yours is not an extreme case. But I will close this topic as it’s really about hosting and those conversations are not allowed here.
