Hey I made a mistake then figured it out, so I thought I’d post in case anyone else made the same mistake.

I did the 5 minute install correctly, and got to the step where you point your browser to:
    http://<yourserver>/blog/wp-admin/install.php

and in my haste I just went to the blog home:
    http://<yourserver>/blog/

Something in doing this trigger the “authentication required” popup, I realized that it was the wrong url, and tried the correct install url, but now this wanted to be authorized.

I pulled my hair for a while, then reinstalled, and went directly/firstly to the correct url and it worked no problem.

So maybe a note to the wordpress developers. The authentication should probably exclude the install.php to avoid this. (or maybe users like me should read and obey)
