is it possible to insert widgets inside of divs with out the need for a formal sidebar?

i need to have 1 page with 5 widgets displayed in a non-traditional-sidebar kinda way.

Yes – it’s perfectly possible. Just use exactly the same approach as making a sidebar widget-ready when you create the custom page template.

Hey SimpleSurfer, the Widgets in pages plugin sounds like it’ll do just what you need. Although it does add a sidebar that needs to be populated (in the normal way) it doesn’t need any coding skills at all.
