Insert text into Header at fixed location

I would like to add text (Copyright message) to my header rather than have it appear in the footer for each page. I am using photocrati theme where the Header is placed on the left side in a vertical position. I know I need to modify the header.php but I am not sure how to place a text string in a fixed location. Would someone have some tips on this (or a link if it is already discussed)?
