Inline images use local references

I’m unclear on whether or not this matters. Looking at my feed, I see inline images being referenced as follows (the way they were inserted by using the built-in media library tools in WP)

<img src=”/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/filename.jpg” … >

Once served via Facebook, will the lack of a domain name be a problem or does Facebook do something special here or does the content actually get served off our server…?
