For some reason all the files in my WordPress install have their permissions set to 555 and to upload any files via FTP i have to change them to 755.

Is there a fast/bulk way to change them all at once?

This seems to have happened overnight as I was working on the site the other day and all was fine. Could the host affect this?

I’ve deactivated plugins but still have the issue?

  • If you use FTP client like FileZilla, you can do it in bulk.
If you right click on a folder, select file permissions, then you will get an option to recurse into subdirectories.

You can also select multiple files using ctrl key and right click and change file permission.

Brilliant. That’s worked a treat. Thanks.
