Index and Article Pages

Hi,

I’ve been modifying the way the ‘default’ theme looks like. The index page is completely different from the blue default theme. However, when I click on the post links I am brought back to a similar layout as the default theme. Is there a way I can modify the layout when permalinks are clicked? Please point me to the right direction as to how I can update this.
