Sounds like something got stuck with the background/async process, possibly due to regenerating thumbs (that process will put every media attachment in to the background queue).
With that many images in the queue, you have a situation where new media will be at the back of a very long queue.
Since you already did a bulk optimize, you can do this:
1. turn on debugging
2. look for Image Queue Debugging under the Media menu.
3. Click the clear all queues button.
You may still end up with some “in progress” notices, but those will disappear after 24 hours.
You can wait for those to expire to see if any of the new images need optimizing, or just re-run the bulk optimizer. By default, the bulk optimizer ignores anything it already processed, so it’ll only optimize new images at this point.

Hello,
thanks for your reply. When I checked 24 hours later all the Images where progressed fine. If have this in future again, clear all queues button and rerun bulk?
Thx
Yes, that would be the way to go if it happens again. But without doing a thumb regen, you really shouldn’t get a queue that’s so backed up like that in the future.
