Sometimes topics can be flagged up as spam by the software on the forum. When a topic is flagged up as spam, it goes under a review process. In this state, the thread appears to be visible by the original poster, but to all other people (apart from moderators) the thread is not visible. The thread in this state is as though it is not on the forum yet, so it does not have the function of being editable.
Ok thanks for information.
So it’s like a kind of bug in this case, because there is an edit link and the author of his own thread can’t edit it to correct some mistakes.
Best regards.
Hi,
I have a similar problem.
I started this thread
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/smtp-error-failed-to-connect-to-server-connection-timed-out-110-111?replies=1
and I would like to close it, because it contains my email address. Is it possible?

Not anymore it doesn’t. 😉
Removing emails (or phone numbers, why do somepeople…?) is a valid reason for moderators to edit the post as I’ve done.
I’m going to close this topic as the OP’s problem has been explained and I do not want this to be the “edit my post” topic.
To recap: If you’re post is caught in the spam queue then yeah, you cannot edit it unless it’s released before 35 minutes.
If the post is not in the spam queue then the poster can edit it up to 35 minutes. Not 36 or more, just 35 minutes.
If 35 minutes pass, then just reply to your own topic with the corrected info.
If someone needs a post edited or deleted keep in mind that that is only done in extreme cases.

Search engine hits are never extreme but yes, moderators will remove email addresses on request.
