• Background: my account was being moved to a new server. I exported my database from MySQL in several different forms — .csv, .xml, .tex and .sql

    Hosting company managed to lose all of my files in the transfer, so I was left entirely dependent upon backups.

    Opted to install new version of WordPress, but now I have no idea how to restore my backed-up database. It wasn’t a WordPress export, so the WordPress import doesn’t work. It looks like the structure of the database from whatever previous version of wordpress I was using has changed now that I’m using 2.3 as well.

    I thought by exporting my databases I would make this easy on myself …

    I guess as added info, I trimmed down the xml export into separate posts and comments files, hoping perhaps those would import via the rss import function. It said it was successful and told me happy blogging, but I have posts to show for it.
