have I kept all my previous subscribers? I can’t see the link on the sidebar??

You’ll need to install Jetpack http://jetpack.me/ and enable the Subscriptions module. You can then add a Blog Subscriptions widget to your sidebar via Settings -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard.
