• I’ve finally installed wp on godaddy, and now I’m trying to import posts from my current wp blog using the http://www.technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import/ plugin. Now, there’s this error:
    ——————————–
Sorry, there has been an error.

Unable to create directory d:\hosting\whiterbunny\blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
    ——————————–

i’m not sure why it’s pointing to my d drive.

  • It’s pointing to the SERVER’s D: drive. You apparently went with Windows based hosting at GoDaddy. To be honest, life will be a bit easier if you contact ’em and ask to be *nix based instead…

If you don’t move, then you’ll need to get that parent directory (wp-content/uploads) writable by the web server process.

i finally switched the server to php, although it’s still windows. no more error…i guess that solved it 🙂

but now i have another problem. after i exported the wxr file using that plugin, all of my categories are gone!! it’s replaced by about 200 blank categories.
