Import tool not working

    I’ve been using the export/import tools to export from a site that has new content to be imported into several other sites. It has worked well so far, but after the last WP updates, I can’t get it to work.

    The export is of multiple different types of content – pages, posts, media, menus, etc. Now it tells me it’s importing, but nothing happens.

    I also have a WPMU plugin for copying posts from one site to another and that isn’t working. Their forum says they’re working on the issue.

    Anyone run into this and have any ideas?

    If you are consistently having trouble with the importer plugin, have you tried downloading, unzipping & overwriting that plugin via FTP just to make sure that there isn’t a file corruption issue? I’m not aware of any issues with the importer and the current version of WP.

    Are you trying to import super-large xml files? Maybe it’s a time out issue?

    If you have a paid WPMU plugin, you should seek out their support team. That’s part of what you paid for, and they will be the best folks to help you troubleshoot any issues.

    Thanks Bet.

    I tested with plugins disabled (thought I’d done that before) and the WordPress importer worked this time.

    I have a ticket in with WPMU – disabling plugins didn’t work in that case.

    Oh yeah! Plugin conflicts. Why didn’t I think of that!? 🙂
