Hi everyone, I’m trying to import a csv containing a list of products with links to images, etc. into Woocomemrce, but the import is not successful and in the logs I see the “Product type invalid” error, how to solve it this error? Thank you.

Hi, using a special Excel formula, I managed to have the name of the categories in a single column, now to import the csv file into Woocommerce and ensure that it assigns the products to the respective categories, I have to:

    • manually create the various categories in Woocommerce with the same name as in the csv?
-in the now empty csv column with the “categories” header, should I replace the name “categories” with the various category names separated by commas?
should the various columns of the csv of the individual separate categories present in the csv now be deleted?
      Is this correct?
      Thank you!

    Hey, @userweb!

manually create the various categories in Woocommerce with the same name as in the csv?

You don’t need to manually create the categories on the website, you can just have them on the CSV and they will be created (it there isn’t a category with the same name on the site yet).

-in the now empty csv column with the “categories” header, should I replace the name “categories” with the various category names separated by commas?

On the “category column” on each product you need to add the categories for that product, separating them with commas.

    Like this:

All the categories for the product need to be on the same cell.

should the various columns of the csv of the individual separate categories present in the csv now be deleted?

Yes, you should delete the separate category column as there should only be one.

I hope this was clarifying. If you face any issues or have any questions, please let us know so we can assist you further.

Hi, thanks to you, in the meantime after I imported my csv and everything went well, I had to update the csv to import the videos related to the products, these videos have links in the form https://www.domainname.com /product.aspx?id=12345, I updated the csv and then performed the import by checking the Woocommerce field to update the products with corresponding id, as a mapping I tried first to import as metadata and then as url but from the import log it tells me “invalid product”, what am I doing wrong? The images have been imported correctly but I would also like to add the product videos because they are much more explanatory and descriptive of the products.
    Thank you!

    Hey, @userweb!

Which plugin are you using to add videos to the product page?
Have you checked with them how to add it via CSV?

    Looking forward to your reply.

Hi, I’m using the “Import” function of Woocommerce, in the csv there is also a column to import the images with all the links to the images and these have been imported correctly, the videos however I can’t import them, the links to the videos are working, if I put them in the browser they correctly send to the page of the site where they are.

    👋 hi @userweb

Kindly note, WooCommerce supports product images only, by default. Related documentation can be found linked here, for reference.

Therefore, for videos to be also included, a separate plugin would be necessary. Best to make sure the selected one supports adding video links via CSV, as my colleague mentioned earlier on.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
We will be happy to help you further.

Thank you very much, I didn’t know these things, could you recommend a plugin to import videos via links? Will I have to re-import all the complete CSVs or will the products already imported via Woocommerce “import” with the links to the videos be updated via plugin?

    Hey, @userweb!

I found some options on our marketplace from partner plugins.

However, I was not able to find mention of CSV import on their page and documentation.

I suggest visiting the contact us page on woocommerce.com and ask a Presale question so the support team for each one can confirm if it is possible to import via CSV.

    I hope this helps!
