Import of excel sheet

    Hello Tobias … just trying to import an excel sheet .xlsx

    A couple of simple questions.

    Is their a limit to the number of rows I can import?

    One of my columns is a time field as total time taken eg 03:23:45

    When I import this it shows as a date. I have formatted the field in excel as time
    .

    Any pointers appreciated.

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    Please try saving the file to a the CSV format in Excel and import that. The CSV format is much more reliable when it comes to different data types.

    Thanks Tobias .. I actually converted from a csv to xlsx so will try the csv now.

    Spot on Tobias .. imported as csv with no issues.

    For future reference is their a limit on the number of rows.

    It could go as high as 50000 rows and 11 columns.

    Hi,

    good to hear that this worked!

    There is no limit in theory, but of course from practical considerations, like server memory and speed, browser speed, internet connection, etc.
    With a table of 50000 rows and 11 columns, you will probably find that the page with the table loads rather slow. In addition, the “Edit” screen for that table might be unusable (because of slowness), so that it might make more sense to manage/edit this large table in Excel and then import the CSV file again (replacing the existing version).
