Import file size
-
Hello.
I use the Free version of All in one wp migration always to back up my websites and it always works fine.
This is the first time I want to use the plugin to migrate a website.
The file size of the backup is 183mb.
I have read online that there are restrictions on the file size to import to the new wordpress website but there is conflicting information on the maximum file size I can import.
Can you confirm if I can import or restore a file of 183mb to the new website or not?
Also if I can does the migration process wipe the site from the old domain as I don’t want this to happen in case anything goes wrong with the migration process.
Thank you VictorThe page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

No, the plugin will not delete the site that you exported from.
There are no restrictions in the plugin, you can import a file of any size.
The upload restrictions come from the hosting provider. The settings in PHP that you likely need to adjust to increase these restrictions are:
upload_max_filesize– set this to a value > than your backuppost_max_size– set this to a value > than your backupmemory_limit– set this to a value > than your backupmax_execution_time– set this to 0 (infinite)
Also, please read these two guides:
Hi Yani, thank you for your fast reply.
I have installed all in one wp migration on the new site and it said the maximum upload is 32mb.
I followed advice on the forum and installed the plugin (all-in-One WP Migration Import file extention).
This increased the upload file size to 512mb. the website is only 183mb
However when I go to import the site it says 0.00% and just stays like that with the only other option being to stop the import.
If the problem was the hosting provider would it not try to import some percentage and then stop the import and not stay stuck on 0.00%.
Thank you VictorYou can try again to import the file. The speed depends on your internet connection.
Try in a different browser or incognito mode of the browser.
If it still does not work, you might be on an unsupported hosting provider.Hello again Yani.
I tried as you suggested and tried another browser and also incognito mode.
The hosting provider that my client used to buy the domain and set up the wordpress site is https://www.mijndomein.nl/ which does not appear on your list of supported hosting providers. Do you think this is the problem and do I have any other options.
Thanks again VictorUsually, if it stays at 0.00% for a long time, it means that the upload cannot start.
So something must be blocking the upload.
Check to see if you have any security plugins installed and activated. If you do, disable them and try again.
Alternatively, check with your hosting provider if they run any sort of firewall or security plugin/integration that could be blocking this upload.Hi Yani I will try that tomorrow and let you know how I get on. I also asked if the problem may be caused by the hosting provider above not being on your list of hosting providers as far as I know or is that not an issue?
Thanks again VictorHi again Yani
I have disabled all security and cashing plugins on both the source site https://www.goldenmoe.com/ and the new clean wordpress site https://www.cmo-athletics.com
The only extra thing I did was to install the plugin (all-in-One WP Migration Import file extention).
This increased the upload file size to 512mb as before that it said the maximum file size I could install was 32mb
However still when I try to import the site it remains at 0.00% and finally says (Unable to import.
My internet connection is very good and I never have problems uploading or downloading large files
Thank you VictorYes, it is still the same – something is preventing the upload from starting.
I am out of ideas :/I have the same issue.
Tried disabling all other plugins, and update the php-config and htaccess, and none of those works.
I can see in other plugins that the upload value is increased, so I narrowed it in to be all-in-one WP Migration.
Edit: Maybe value information is that my limit also is: 32M

Hi Kim.
Sorry for the late reply
How all in one wp migration think 32mb is enough to migrate a site is enough is very bad.
I found online if you install this plugin it will raise your limit to 512mb.
(all-in-one-wp-migration-file-extension) it is made by the same company.
You could try this and see if it works for you and let me know if it does.
I tried it and the migration just got stuck on 0.00% and failed and it is not my internet speed.
As you can see above I have tried to resolve my migration problem with All in one wp migration and provided them with the link for the site I tried to migrate and their reply was (I am out of ideas)!
Whats worse is that I use the free version of this plugin to backup my websites and now I am worried that if I have a problem with one of my sites and try to restore it that may not work as well!!
That would be even worse, maybe others on this forum can let us know if migrating using the free version has worked for them and if they have also restored a site successfully using the free version of this plugin or should I find another way to backup my websites.
Good luck and let me know how you get on.
Cheers VictorVictor, you should definitely go for other options when the plugin is not working for you.
Hi Yani.
I have never had to use the plugin yet to restore a website but I am worried about using the restore part of the plugin after my recent problem with trying to migrate a website.
I would still ask others on this forum to let us know if the migration or restore parts of the free version of this plugin has worked for them.
My websites are not complex or very large sites and if the plugin is flawed in the free version I think others should know before they rely on this plugin to backup their sites and then find out that they cannot restore their websites.
Thank you Victor. The plugin supports a large number of plugins and plugin combinations. It also supports a large number of hosting providers and plans. However, every website is different and every hosting provider is different.
Every now and then, there will be a plugin combination, hosting provider, or plan that will not work with the plugin.
If you made a backup with the plugin, you can extract the backup with Traktor.
You can also host WordPress locally, on your own computer, where you will not have issues with hosting restrictions.
In your particular case, it is either a plugin incompatibility, or hosting restriction.
At this point, we’ve reached the limits of what most in the community here are willing to offer in their spare time (everyone here is a volunteer). You should consider hiring someone so that you can give them direct access to the site for a far more efficient fix than we can provide here. Please try https://jobs.wordpress.net/ or https://jetpack.pro/ and do not accept any hire offers posted to these forums.
Hi Yani.
I did not know that the support here was only volunteers and thought you worked for the plugin makers so thank you for all your patience and help.
I am going to try the restore site on a test site I have to see if the restore funcion part works, as with the list of hosting providers, the one I tried to migrate was not one on your list but most of my sites are with Hostinger which is on the list and I have premium hosting with then so does that mean I should have no issue with that hosting company?
You also mention plugins that may cause a problem. I build all my sites with Elememtor Pro and don’t use many third party plugins.
Do you have a list of the main plugins that All in one wp migration work with and do you know if ElementsKit is a plugin that is supported by your plugin.
Again sorry for the confusion in thinking you worked for the company and thank you for all your help.
I will let you know if the restore works on my test site.
Thank you Victor
