Import custom xml file

Hi all,

After a redesign, I’m trying to find a way to import almost 1000 entries from a custom XML file generated by the old crappy CMS to the new WordPress powered website.

For custom I mean it’s encoded in ISO-8859-1, the date field is in format ‘dd/mm/yyyy’ and every entry has a ‘thumb’ field with the name of a jpg file with lots of spaces in it (by the way, I have all the images saved locally).

Maybe a smarter way for the thumbs would be importing the simple image file name in a custom fields and then adding some specific theme support…but what about other entries?

Is there any hope to import all these entries in a specific category?
