• I have finally (after many many attempts) gotten all of my posts and files to import from my wordpress.com site to my hosted site on godaddy. The only problem was that the posts still pointed to the images in the media library on my old wordpress.com site.

So, I edited my xml import file to “find and replace” all instances of the old address with the new. Now my files are pointing to the new site, but when I go into Media Library, they are all unattached.

    Any fixes?

  • Did you remember to import all attachments?

Yes, I checked that box, and all of the media files transferred. I had to import many times in order to get all of the files (about 1100 pictures) to transfer from the old site. At that point, they were attached, but still pointed to the old site in my posts. That it when I edited the XML file to change the addresses to point to the new site, and that is when the all became unattached.

Well, that was rather daft! Now I can only suggest that you delete everything and try importing using a fresh export file.

Yes, believe me, i have done that many times… Trying to troubleshoot. But then the image addresses in all of the posts point to my old site at WordPress.com. How do I get them to point to the new site, and stay attached to their posts in the media library?
