• Recently migrated to a self-hosted blog from WordPress.com. Clean install, latest WordPress version. I imported from the previous site, but my images are not appearing, only the header image. Everything else works fine. Only showing file names of images.

Have tried to re-import; re-insert media; permanently delete media, upload and insert; switched to Twenty-Fifteen theme; no change. I even published a test post with new content and the new image still didn’t appear.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Both URLs are correct on the Settings > General Settings page

Are you thinking the image link can’t decide which server to choose from so it shows nothing?

The image link that results in a 404 looks like it is trying to use both the wp.com server and chrismackinnon.com in the address. It is only at the latter. Seems to support the DNS propagation theory?

sounds right, if it’s going to wp.com first because that’s what it knows it’s got to relearn where to find these things. give it 24 hours and see what happens…

Sounds good. I’ll wait and update the thread if no change. Thanks.

i am sure it is some setting in your wordpress.

open up /wp-admin/options.php page and look for upload_url value. is it blank?

another place this path can be set is wp-config.php file.

    (@pchrismac)

Fields are blank for “upload_path” and “upload_url_path”

i1.wp.com is hosted by wordpress.com? yes we can wait a little longer then.

    Will do. Thanks.

So, no change on this. Saw another thread that mentioned making the Wp.com site private, which I did yesterday, with no results. Not sure why the self-hosted is still looking for images on the old server, adding i1.wp.com to the image URLs.

I still need help with this issue, please.

adding i1.wp.com to the image URLs.

    Try deactivating JetPack photon.

Perfect! That was so easy. Thanks.

Easy only if you know that photon can do that :)! Also easily confusing and frustrating until you do (speaking of experience) – LOL!
