For some reason when I try to upload a pic in the media gallery, I get a gray background with a little pic inside of it which looks like a mountain. The image itself will not upload and I’m not sure why. I have contacted my hosting company and they don’t see any issues on their end. I’m not sure why this is happening and was wondering if anyone could help. I’ve tried changing permissions and I’ve looked on other forums as well but I can’t find a solution that works.
Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the 2010 theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
The thing is that uploading the images worked fine a week ago. I haven’t added any new plugins either. I deactivated all my plugins but that didn’t work. I switched to a different theme but that didn’t work. I recently updated some plugins but I’m not sure if that would matter since I deactivated them all. I will try resetting the plugins folder.
Also, would you be able to recommend someone who could fix this for me in case I’m not able to fix it? I don’t have a lot of time to try and figure this out. I still have to post to my site and I need images to go with it. Thanks.
I just noticed that your thread is in the multisite category. If it is part of a multisite network, then perhaps there’s something else here that’s causing the error.
If it’s not a multisite, then just let me know and I can move this thread to the toubleshooting section.
With regards to hiring someone to help you fix this, I would recommend that you got to http://jobs.wordpress.net/
It’s not part of a multisite category. Sorry about that. I didn’t know the difference.
I just did all the things you suggested Christine and my images still aren’t showing up. Do you have any other suggestions?
My hosting company has resolved this issue for me. I had a bad path setting for media uploads. He went to: Settings – Media and cleared it so that WordPress would use its own default media upload path (which is the wp-content/uploads folder). That’s how he resolved this issue for me. I hope it’s able to help someone else who might be having the same issue as I had. I was ready to hire someone to fix this for me and all it was, was a bad path setting. Thank you Christine for your help.
