images don't show – does jpeg work?

Hello,

I just installed wordpress for the first time and I am already very happy with it! Everything looks so easy and nice. However, I have one question about uploading images. Everytime I upload a photo from my computer (jpeg format), it upload something, but I don’t see the image only an automatic thumbnail that doesn’t look like my photo. How can I resolve this? Does wordpress accept jpeg files or do I need to upload other files?
