• Hi there.

I have returned from holiday and noticed that pretty much all of the images on my work’s site are not displaying. Online, the images just show a white space with a little red cross in a box. Similarly in WordPress itself. I have been into WordPress and thankfully they all still appear to be in the gallery.

The guy who helped make the site is in recovery from hospital so don’t want to bug him about it. I would really appreciate any advise so that I can get all these back asap as I am responsible for the site!

I am using version 3.2. This has not happened before.

    Thank you!

  • First of all, the image files are still on your server? Maybe they were deleted. Check the wp-content/uploads folders. Or, you can go to a post that contained images, open it, change to HTML view and loog for the <img src=”file location”> tag. You can copy the file location and load it into a browser window. See if the image displays.

Hi voala. I am not sure where the content/uploads folders are? However I tried the other option and pasted the location into a browser. It came up with a “oops this link appears to be broken” from google type page. I tried this with 2 images just to check…?

ok, the file is located as follows:
    http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads/month/day/files

If you cannot load the images maybe they are not there. Maybe deleted.
What is the file location that you trying to acces?

the website is http://www.cityparktechnologies.com so you can see what’s going on.

i tried pasting that url into my browser, with my address in it, and it doesnt go anywhere…

i thought the images may not be there but they seem to be in the gallery. I have also checked the folder from which they were originaly uploaded and they are also there. when the web guy finished the site it was put on to his server, but everything worked fine. this was about 2 months ago so i don’t know if it is anything to do with that…?

ok, None of your images are loading. I think they are not on the server. Can you look via FTP to see the files that are still there? Maybe in the gallery you can see them as the thumbnails. On image uploading, wordpress makes i think 3 versions of the image (in three sizes) and a thumbnail to display in the gallery.

Please verify via FTP that the files are where they suposed to be.
    For exemple: http://www.miraclecreative.com/websites/city/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/iStock_000007618481XSmall.jpg

This is one of the images from your website. It does not load. Can you see it on the server?
