This happens to me also. If I try to adjust the width in the HTML, or take out width or height in the img tag, the image disappears. I can’t get it back in again, even if I manually put back the HTML. Images only appear at all if using the “Add media” button in WP.
Is this all related?
Hi again, I think what’s happening is that if BOTH a width and height are not defined in the HTML of the img tag, then the image won’t show. The problem with that is the need for these images to adapt to different screen sizes and within divs, including this plugin’s wraps and size limits on a page. So then they become distorted because this plugin (or perhaps the other AMP plugin?) is ‘forcing’ them to exist at certain sizes, instead of allowing them to maintain just width, or just height, or to simply exist without width or height defined (so to take original image size or percentage sizes at least). I hope that makes sense…I realize it may be confusing, sorry.

I don’t have this issue on a site that I’m runnning Automattic’s AMP plugin alone. It’s a “feature” of this plugin. For some reason, they’re doing weird things with images. Hopefully the plugin authors can help us undersand why.
Hi @twistermc,
Thank you for using our plugin.
Can you check if that’s happening with other design as well? And is it happening with all images or with some only?
Regards
Marqas
It’s happening with a lot of my images, but not all. I’m not sure why some do this and others do not.
I’m not seeing it as much on some of my other sites so I’m not sure what’s causing it.
Hi @twistermc,
I apologize for the delay in response.
There can only be one reason and that is missing of height and width. And those are getting added by default which is not the actual size, that’s why images are looking distorted.
I have created a ticket about this in our Github, we will test this and will resolve this issue in our next updates.

Till then can you please contact us at team@magazine3.com? We might need your help in debugging this issue.

Have you tried to make a blogpost where you just use a featured image instead of the lightbox. Does it do it to ordinary featured images.
