• I run the site http://www.healt-mot.co.uk. It’s been online for months, and all was fine.

I recently changed permalinking from ‘post title’ to ‘default’. All of my post thumbnail images stopped However, some images are showing as broken, and any new images I add to posts don’t work.

For example, look at the video thumbnail images on the post excerpts on the home page (created by the ‘video thumbnail’ plugin).
If you paste the link for the .jpg into your browser, it takes you to a blog feed.

The odd thing is, the paths are correct. The files appear on my server and display fine when downloaded.

I suspect something to do with permissions, but I wouldn’t know where to start. Why would changing the permalink and putting it back mess up permissions?

This is driving me mad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

And why are you using an older copy of WordPress? Are you aware that there are serious risks in doing this?

Well, I didn’t think it would be a plugin because it was affecting the image even when I tried to access directly. BUT I de-activated all of my plugins which fixed it.

Then I went through one-by one, and it works fine with all of them re-activated.

And this is the version of WordPress that was current when the site launched in September.

    Thanks for your help!

And? You can upgrade WordPress on a site after it has been launched. I’ve been doing so on one of my sites since 2003.
