• My site is an adult orientated “Top Ten List Site” using the Hueman theme. I will post the site name if requested, otherwise I will respect those who might not want to see that content. Like others I am having trouble uploading images. This issue happens when I upload images to attach to a post. It happens whether I use the flash or browser upload and it happens whether I upload 1,3,5,10 or any amount of images in between and whether or not the image is small or large in file size.

When I upload images one of three things happen seemly at random with no rhythm or reason.

    1. The upload is successful, it generates the necessary thumbs on the server and shows up issue free in the post.
    2. I get the common HTTP upload error. This sucks but I can deal with it as it seems like a common issue.
    3. The image seems to upload. It shows up in the word press admin, in the media list and on the page that you write your post. Then after 1-2 minutes it “goes grey” and only the name of the file shows in the media list. If I watch the server via FTP the “greyed out” file never shows up on the server and thumbs are never created. The file is absent from the post but there is a place where the content should be.

This is a huge time suck.

I want to upload ten images to a post and write my post. As it is now it takes me 30-45 minutes of uploading pictures, deleting “greyed out” files, watching the server for thumbnail creation and repeating the upload process until I get 10 successes. Sometimes I upload 10 and get 6 successes the first time, 3 the second and 1 the next time. Sometimes it is 10 failures and I repeat this process 15-20 times to get 10 images to upload and create thumbs.
    Any thoughts?

That shouldn’t happen. If it shows up in the WordPress media library then it was successful. Then later it goes grey and disappears? What plugins do you have installed on your WordPress installation? Something is messing with those files.

Is it a timeout issue and does your log show you anything the tells you why you are getting an upload error?

Thanks for responding. Yes a good portion of the videos show up in the media library, then they go gray and then disappear.

These are the plugins I have installed.
    WP-PageNavi
    Responsive Lightbox
    Regenerate Thumbnails
    Hello Dolly
    Default to GD
    Contact Form 7
    Akismet

It doesn’t seem to be a timeout issue, especially since the files appear to be successful. I feel your take of “something messing with the files” is accurate. It is almost like some action runs at the moment of upload and decides randomly what to grey out a minute later. It is very odd.
