Image Upload problem – Unable to create directory

please help. cannot upload images to blog – everything else seems to work fine.

i have read every post on this topic and cannot find a solution. everyone suggests resetting permissions, or adding upload folder, etc – but i cannot get past the first step.

when i try to reset permissions to wp-content (or any other folder) as everyone suggests – i cannot reset permissions – error message reads:

setting access properties failed for:

/public_html/blog/wp-content

For additional information, check the FTP log

i keep thinking – “this cannot be so hard – everyone uses wordpress – what am “I” doing wrong???”
