    Hi David. Is it somehow possible to initiate iptc/exif mapping when I am sending images to my homepage per email [postie as a plug-in]. I Know it is not intended by default but perhaps there is a more or less easy way that you know of.

    I am thinking of a very simple way to create posts and for a lot of people email is such a way. Due to attaching the emails to a newly created post in WordPress I am already able to use mla gallery for presentation. But I am missing some details.

    Thank you for your thoughts.

    Thanks for your question.

    I have installed and activated Postie and run a quick test using default settings. On my system, the IPTC/EXIF mapping rules are run successfully when Postie creates posts that have image attachments.

    If this is not working for you, let me know in more detail what you are doing and what is not happening. Perhaps you can send me one of your “Postie” emails so I can investigate further.

    Hi David. I am traveling. It will take some time but I will come back to you 🙂

    I have tagged an image quite completely with categories, tags, headline, caption. These informations need partially ba available in search forms (taxonomies, custom fields and particularly within the Description field of an attachment.

    Sending the email does not trigger the execution of IPTC/EXIF mapping. Manual execution of the mapping shows the desired results.

    I’ve added to wp_config
    define( ‘MLA_AJAX_EXCEPTIONS’, ‘always’ );

    The latest postie email I’ve sent right now. Cheers,

    Thanks for following up and sending me your test image by email. On my system the mapping rules are working correctly. I have replied to your message with my results and some instructions for further testing. I look forward to working with you offline to resolve this issue.

    Thanks for working with me offline to track down and resolve this issue.

    Postie performs its periodic “Check for mail every…” processing with a WordPress “cron job”, which runs in the background and was not being detected by the MLA code that installs mapping rule support. I have added Postie support to the latest MLA Development Version dated 20200823 and your testing confirmed that the issue has been resolved.

    I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you find any other scenario where Postie activity does not trigger MLA mapping rules. Thanks for your help with issue and for your continued interest in the plugin.
