    Hi,

Love MLA. I use it to make a gallery of PDFs on two pages, and add categories to the PDFs. Works great.

Latest version is installed in a hosted WP environment where i do not get to install/enable/disable/remove plugins. This WP environment uses the Beaver Builder PageBuilder (BBPB) plugin.

When editing content in a BBPB widget, if i try to add an image within tinymce, when i hit the “Select Files” button in the “Upload Media” tab, nothing happens. When i cancel the Image Media overlay window, the javascript console outputs:

    <blockquote>[Log] ************************************************************************ (fl-builder.min.js, line 4)
[Log] Beaver Builder caught the following JavaScript error. If Beaver Builder is not functioning as expected the cause is most likely this error. Please help us by disabling all plugins and testing Beaver Builder while reactivating each to determine if the issue is related to a third party plugin. (fl-builder.min.js, line 4)

    </blockquote>

Tech support at the hosting place disabled MLA and the Select Files button for uploading within editing content in a BBPB widget started to work again. So looks like some interaction with BBPB and MLA.

Please let me know what else i can do to help solve this problem. I have asked for the version number of BBPB from tech support.

    Peace,
    Dan

Ok to confirm we are running:

    • Beaver Builder Version 1.9.5.3 it is the Pro License
    • MLA Version 2.51

Thanks for the positive feedback and for your report; I regret the trouble you are having with the MLA BBPB combination.

It looks like there is some JavaScript conflict when both plugins are active. I believe you can avoid the conflict and leave most of MLA running by changing your MLA settings:

    1. Navigate to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab
    2. Scroll down to the Media Manager/Media Grid Enhancements section
    3. Uncheck the “Enable Media Grid Enhancements” and “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” boxes
    4. Scroll to the bottom and click “Save Changes”

Unchecking those options will prevent MLA from sending its JavaScript code to the browser and should leave the Select Files function working. It would be great if you can try that and let me know if it works for you.

I have installed the Beaver Builder v1.9.5.3 free version from the WordPress Repository. I do not see anything like the “BBPB widget” you describe; perhaps it is one of the features reserved for the Pro version. I hope you understand that I cannot afford to purchase premium plugins and themes simply to provide support for my own free plugin.

I have had some contact with the BBPB developers regarding past support topics and found them very helpful. I will contact them to see if I can get the version I need to investigate your issue.

I will leave this topic unresolved for now. Thanks for your understanding, your patience and your interest in the plugin.

    Hi David!

Thanks for the quick response. I have contacted the super admin who has control over those settings and asked them to uncheck those two check boxes. And will get back to you as soon as i see what happens.

As for a BBPB (Beaver Builder Page Builder) widget, in the “Add Content” flyover menu that i see on the left when working with BBPB, they are called “Modules”, as well as the menu having “WordPress Widgets” — both are addable in the same fashion in page layout mode.

And i totally understand and do not expect you to purchase the pro version to debug this. No worries.

    Thanks again!

    Peace,
    Dan

Thanks for the update and your additional details. In my BBPB screen I have a sidebar on the right that sounds similar to your flyover menu. It contains Row Layouts, Basic Modules, Advanced Modules and WordPress Widgets; does that make sense? If so, can you give me more details on which widget you are trying to add and what steps you follow to produce the error? I can’t find a widget that includes a “tinymce” edit window.

I am happy to report that Beaver Builder quickly and generously responded to my inquiry with a copy of their Pro version. I’ve installed it and as soon as I understand how to recreate your problem I’ll be on my way.

    Hi David,

    That’s super. Here are steps:

    • Open a page with Page Builder in edit mode you have the sidebar (flyover) menu on the right.
    • Add a “text editor” module to a page by dragging over and placing.
    • After you have dragged that over onto your page and placed it, a window opens titled “Text Editor Settings”. Click on the “Add Media” button above the text editing menubar (which is tinymce editor).
    • After you click on Add Media, the window opens up for Insert Media. Now click on the “Upload Files” tab if not selected.
    • Now click on the “Select Files” button. Nothing happens. Well nothing happened BEFORE i had the vendor turn off those two checkboxes… now it is working.

But anyway above is where i had the problem.
Let me know if i can be of any more help.
    Peace,

I spoke too soon. Now i can’t close the Insert Media window by clicking on the X in the upper left. Ugh…

So i guess see if you have that issue too with your checkboxes turned off “Enable Media Grid Enhancements” and “Enable Media Manager Enhancements” boxes”

Oops, i spoke too soon about it working with those checkboxes unchecked… now i can’t close the Add Media window with the X close button in the upper right corner. It just flashes and shows an X in the upper left for a moment, then nothing happens. Had to close the browser tab.

So i guess try Page Builder with those checkboxes off too.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your updates with the additional information and the step-by-step directions. I assume the “text editor” module is what you meant by the BBPB widget in your earlier posts.

I was able to follow your instructions but I was unable to reproduce your problem. When I clicked on “Select Files” I got the Windows file open dialog box. I selected a file and it uploaded to the site without errors. I then inserted the image in my page with no problems. I was able to do this using both the free version and the Pro version of Beaver Builder.

The problem must be due to some difference between your site and mine.

    • Have you tried using the “drag and drop” uploader instead of the “Select Files” uploader? They are somewhat different.
    • Does the Select Files uploader work when you use the WordPress editor and Add Media popup?
    • Are you running in a multi-site environment? You mentioned a “super admin” in an earlier post.

I also tried unchecking the two “enable MLA enhancements” boxes and I verified that when they are unchecked MLA does not load any JavaScript code in the browser. From your recent posts it looks like something is wrong even when MLA code is not present.

The only thing I can suggest is to use the “Developer Tools” in the browser to see what’s going on. Your first post had some log information – where did that come from?

    Hi David,

Just getting back to this (was throwing an event that consumed me for the last 4 days). So my vendor said they rechecked the two checkboxes. But the problem i was having when they were unchecked still persists (can’t close the Add Media overlay window by checking the box grey X in the upper right corner — it flashes a green background, our button highlight color, and then nada).

But i will answer your questions the best i can:

Q: I assume the “text editor” module is what you meant by the BBPB widget in your earlier posts.
A: Yes the Text Editor module is what i was calling the widget early on in the support thread.

Q: Have you tried using the “drag and drop” uploader instead of the “Select Files” uploader? They are somewhat different.
A: It doesn’t show up with the current MLA config settings, which appear to be with those two checkboxes off you mentioned. As i mentioned above, i asked the vendor to recheck them.

Q: Does the Select Files uploader work when you use the WordPress editor and Add Media popup?
A: Yes. When i am editing a post (not page) which does NOT use BBPB but does use the WP builtin editor, i can use the files uploader from within the Add Media popup (overlay) window.

Q: Are you running in a multi-site environment? You mentioned a “super admin” in an earlier post.
A: I do not know if my site is in a multi-site WP environment. I have heard of them but are rather ignorant. I will ask my liaison. The vendor is the only one with access to add plugins; i asked them to add MLA for our site due to it’s awesome capabilities that was just what we needed.

I will try to use developer tools to see if i get any more clues in this state.

At this time i can’t give you access. Maybe in the future.

But i should report that this support thread display has gone whacko. I would take a screen shot PDF and upload but i don’t see an upload feature. What is happening is that after my response that starts with “Hi David, That’s super. Here are steps:”, all the other responses are showing up as if in a sidebar on the righthand side of page in large font making it hard to read. This happens in Safari and Firefox. I looked at another thread with 11 messages and it doesn’t do the same thing. I don’t know if you can go in and edit the messages in a thread or not to see if there is some stray html code that is mucking things up. Thought you might like to know.

    Peace,
    Dan

One of you is using <li> without wrapping in <ul>.

Ive asked the forum mods to fix it (again).

Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

Thanks, @pross, for the tip regarding the corrupted formatting. I wasn’t able to find and fix the problem on my own but I’ll look out for the ul/li issue in the future.

Thanks, @jdembowski, for the explanation behind your redaction. As you wrote, I mean well but I understand the pitfalls of asking for credentials.

Thanks, @danielmelnechuk, for the additional information you supplied in answering my questions. regarding your answers:

You wrote (about the drag & drop uploader) “ It doesn’t show up with the current MLA config settings“. The drag & drop uploader is a standard WordPress feature, nothing to do with MLA. When you click on the Add Media button
and the popup window appears it says “Drop files anywhere to upload” just above the “Select Files” button. Simply locate the file you want to upload, click on it and then drag it over the popup window to start the upload process. Let me know if that works.

Because you can use the “Select Files” uploader outside of Beaver Builder it does look like some kind of interaction between the two plugins. Unless I can reproduce it on my own system or you can give me more information I don’t know what else I can do to help. Maybe you can get your liaison or the vendor to run some tests of their own. I will leave this topic unresolved for now and hope for more clues from your end. I regret that I can’t do more than that.

It has been a month since my last post in this topic and I have seen nothing further. As I wrote earlier I need more information or some way to reproduce the problem on my system in order to make any progress. I hope you have found a solution that works for your application.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any progress or new information to report. Thanks for your patience and your understanding.
