the shop in my theme is incredibly poor and ugly. But the problem is that not even basic features like those about image views are working. Is there any missing settings or these things can only be achieved with extra plugins?

Can you clarify of which features exactly are you referring to when you say “image views” aren’t working? Is it that you are not able to add images to a product, or do you add images and they don’t display in the product page?

A product image gallery is included as one of the features of WooCommerce core, so no extra plugin is needed to have that display on a product page. However, how those display is largely dependent on your theme. It might be that your theme has compatibility issues that stop the single product page from displaying those elements.

I’d recommend testing with the default WooCommerce theme, Storefront, to see if those display correctly then.

In the documentation, there’s at least image zoom, and image swapping between the several ones. So I believe it’s the image gallery you mention by default. Wonder why it doesn’t work in my case. Storefront crashes my site.

That is correct. Those features are added by default and you wouldn’t need a separate plugin for them. However, it’s possible that your theme is removing them – or at least not declaring support for them to work.

I wasn’t able to access your site as it seems like you have it password protected. However, if Storefront is crashing your site, it sounds to me like there might be conflicting software in there that is causing this behavior.

I’d recommend doing a full conflict test. You’ll want to disable all plugins on the site except for WooCommerce. Then, under that setup, switch your theme to Storefront.

If the issue is gone, you’ll then have to re-enable features one by one, while testing for the issue; until you find out which one is causing this behavior.

We recommend that these steps are taken on a staging site, which is a clone of your live site that you can modify without risking making any permanent damage to your live site. You can create it using a plugin like WP-Staging: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-staging/

This plugin lets you copy and redeploy a WordPress site with minimal work.

…the first thing I would like to know, after having seen Storefront crash my shop, is how come my products are now in 3 columns. Any idea how to revert it to 4 withour adding any snippets? Where to look in the code?

@arsenalemusica If your theme supports it, you can control how many products are displayed er row from Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog.

oh, thank you for the tip about the products columns.
Concerning the images default zoom/swapping I hear that my theme is about to update. If that doesn’t resolve the issue I will follow up on this ticket.

@arsenalemusica As this is a theme or conflict-related issue, there is little assistance we can provide to fix it over here, even if the update doesn’t help. I’d refer to the recommendations shared above, about creating a staging site and testing for conflicts there.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

sorry but it’s not resolved, my theme has not updated and I cannot confirm you where the problem is. I shall close this ticket myself if the problem will be solved.
(and to be honest, I don’t really think it’s related to the theme). Thanks
