Thank you for reporting this.
I can confirm that the deactivated dropdown is a bug introduced in v0.8. As you said yourself, you can come around it by switching tabs. I will of course release a fix very soon.
While no message indicates this, your conditions will not be saved if you click Update/Publish. You need to click “Save changes” to the right of the condition group. I will think about how to make this more clear.

Hi, Joachim. That worked – thank you! It’s very obvious now that you’ve told me. Perhaps give the button a color? Green or something to make it stand out from the rest of the page.

I have some code that can take care of saving the restrictions automatically on-the-go, but it still have some quirks.
