• Hi again

I have been playing with wordpress on my desktop and have altered a theme to fit with what I want. But I am having trouble uploading it to wordpress on my site.

I tried following a filezilla tutorial but for some reason it wouldnt connect to the server, the configuration wizard kept saying the connection was ended prematurely?

So I zipped the theme and tried to upload it directly into wordpress, and it shows as installed ok, but when I activate it or preview it there is nothing there!

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks!

    Claire

  • Did you upload to wp-content/themes/ ?
Is the theme nicely packed in a single folder?
Did you test your theme: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ ?

Hi, thanks so much for your reply

I uploaded to the themes folder like you say, and I think it is in a single folder – but the folder has the image folder insode it, is this right or should it all just be in one?

Just going to test theme now! It seems to be working on the wordpress I am running on my desktop though.

No, it’s ok to have the images (buttons etc) in a separate folder inside the themes folder. I only said that because some downloaded themes come in a folder like mytheme2.3.1 and inside that one is the folder mytheme with all the files and the image folder inside.
