Hummingbird is messing with css

I’m sorry for the issue. Hummingbird “out of the box” (right after installation, if no configuration was done) doesn’t change anything CSS-related on site so unless you did enable some features such as e.g. Page Caching or, more likely, Asset Optimization, nothing should change at all.

If it does, it would mean that there’s some conflict with either theme or other plugin so that would have to be checked by conduction full conflict test:

– disabling all the plugins except Hummingbird and switching site to Twenty Twenty-One theme
– if the issue goes away, enable theme back and check again
– if it’s still fine, start enabling your plugins back one by one, after each one checking the site and once the issue starts to happen again, it means that last enabled plugin is conflicting with Hummingbird.

Knowing about it, we could examine it closer to find out why it’s conflicting and how to fix such conflict.

However, if you did enable Asset Optimization already (or let Hummingbird set it automatically) then nearly for sure this would be the reason for the issue. Asset Optimization (any – not only done by Hummingbird but by other plugins too) changes the way JS/CSS is structured/handled on site and that can sometimes cause unexpected side-effects. In Hummingbird you can switch Asset Optimization to “Manual” mode where you can tweak optimization options at the level of every single file – which would let you solve these issues while still keeping the site’s assets optimized.

That said, I see that you have removed site’s URL from your post so I can’t visit the site to take a closer look. Unfortunately, this also means I can’t really tell much more as I don’t know anything about your site and issues like this are usually very specific to particular site.

Can you share the URL to the site in question with us again so we could check it?
