  • Hello Experts!

I was so wrong when I changed my WordPress address (URL) from : http to https in the setting of wp-admin WITHOUT the certification SSL

Then I can’t access to my site and wp-admin

I tried to access the .htaccess by using FTP, but I couldn’t connect to it.

I hope you to help me!

    Thank you in advance

  • In this case, you will need to change the wordpress site url either in Cpanel >> phpmyadmin or the config file as stated in both options here –

Hopefully you have access to your cpanel.

Make sure your site has an SSL certificate. Without that, you can’t access your site.

Ask your hosting provider about this issue, they’ll assist you to create SSL certificate (Lets Encrypt) if you are not installed the WordPress on the localhost.

If you want to change the HTTPS to HTTP you can do that by phpMyAdmin.

You can read this blog post about HTTP to HTTPS

Thanks for your advice! It seems helpful to me. But I use the compute engine of Google Cloud Platform, so I’m trying to find the Cpanel 😀 😀 😀

You simply need to change that field (actually there are two) back to normal in your database. Either:

    1. access your phpMyAdmin via your Cpanel (it’s the database program) look for the wp_options table (it’s the first two entries you need to change), or …

    2. if you’re able to upload files to your server, you could upload a script like this one and do a replace of https://your-domain-name with http://your-domain-name, where ‘your-domain-name’ is your domain name (if you’re using www. then include that too).

    Thanks for your advice,

But my problem is still unresolved. I can’t access the databases to access my phpMyadmin via my Cpanel because Godaddy is my hosting. I must add “/Cpanel” to the end of the link in order to access. That doesn’t work 🙁
I will try to ask my hosting provider about this!
