I am designing a website for a client and received the following Wordfence error with a Wordfence badge when I tried to view the finished website on my tablet.

Hi @nickyr, thanks for getting in touch.

“Blocked by login security setting” is only usually seen as a reason when the username being attempted has been added to Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection > Immediately block the IP of users who try to sign in as these usernames. Do you have anything set there?

As for emails, they’re sent out from your site rather than our servers so when they’re missing it could be the receiving client filtering spam before they hit your inbox, or a problem sending in the first place.

    • The emails (they come from wordpress@yoursitename.com) might be sent to junk mail folders by your email client or provider. Make sure and whitelist or add your website to the list of safe domains so you get emails consistently.
    • This isn’t like regular emails you send and receive, but rather server alert messages. Usually, a restart of postfix or sendmail (whichever is installed) can fix it. Your hosting provider may need to help with this.
    • If you have a third party plugin for sending emails with another service, like Gmail, it could be stopping these alerts from going out. Reaching out to the plugin author for support can help.

Once you’re 100% sure they’re not being junked or that postfix/sendmail isn’t stuck, I would certainly see if you’re able to send a test email from Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Other Tests > Send a Test Email…

If you can’t, your hosting provider may need to help you troubleshoot the issue.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
