htaccess file missing.

    something changed. When I tried to edit my pages, I see only the page content showing the html and codes. I used to have two tabs. The other previous my page and let me insert images or texts. Now it’s gone. What happened. I am not sure if this is the issue but it htaccess file is missing. Help please.
    I have no idea how to update 2.3.3 to 2.6 I can download the update but what to do next–beats me.
