Hello there everyone. As a new user of WP Staging I need to learn how and when to use the Open/Update/Reset/Delete options (WP Staging v. 3.3.3).

For example, after updating/testing plugins in the staging environment, and then updating the same plugins in the production environment, do I need to use the production side Reset command to refresh the staging environment to ensure that it will exactly match the live production site?
Note: I am using the Astra theme.

Is there a user guide for How to Use the Free WP Staging plugin?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi @valcomeau

Yes, you can use the “Reset” button in the situation you described, and to learn more about the difference between update/reset actions, please check this guide:

    https://wp-staging.com/docs/update-and-reset-staging-sites/

And of course “open” is used to open the staging site, and “delete” is used to delete it.

Let me know if you still have any further questions,

    Thanks,
    Alaa

Thank you very much Alaa. With your advice at hand I initiated an update of my staging site from the production site, after selecting the CLONE button. The update process did complete successfully, but it did take a while (over two hours). Should I be worried about this? Thanks!

The speed depends on your site’s number of files and database size, however, you can adjust the values under (WP STAGING > Settings) to get a better performance based on your server specifications.

Thanks again Alaa. I will investigate the settings, as you have suggested. I’m using WP Staging successfully now to pre-test plug-in up-dates. Hope you are having a good day!
