How to update to v2?

    Since WordPress installs are not yet being notified of v2+ updates, what’s the best way to go from v1.10.11-standard to v2? (I’ve got the zip of 2.0.7, which I think I’ll use, after reading about bugs in 2.0.8.)

    I want to change because v1 is SOOOOOO slow. But I don’t want to lose any calendar listings. Is that possible? Or do you have to start over?

    I don’t see any posts on the best way to change over, hope I’m not duplicating here.

    Please do a manual upgrade. Just follow the steps in the article to ensure that you don’t lose your events: http://support.time.ly/manually-upgrading-the-calendar/

    Make sure you backup your database before your upgrade.

    Almost all the 2.0.8 bugs are in 2.0.7, and in fact 2.0.8 fixes 2 particularly nasty ones.

    If you can wait, sometime in the next week 2.0.9 is being released, and a lot more bugs are fixed.

    The one thing I would do is back up everything first.

    This means:
    1. All files in your WP install.
    2. All tables in your wordpress database.

    I point out this last one as it seems some of the backup utilities out there only back up the standard WP tables, not other tables that might be present. Ai1ec stores all events in tables containing ai1ec in their name. Also note that ai1ec options are stored in the wp_options tables, and the event description is saved in the standard wordpress post tables.
