I accidentally flagged a message as spam that was actually coming from the Add to Cart button. Now my Add to Cart button is broken and displayed the spam message. Is there any way to reverse this? If not, if I delete the plugin, will it delete all the entries in the database? This is rather urgent. Thank you.

From one of your earlier posts, it seems that you have decided to stop supporting this plugin. In light of this, will you please tell me how to completely remove the plugin, including all related database artifacts? Thank you.

As I don’t believe ordinary web won’t survive the age of GenAI, I’ve stopped supporting it. But as I need a secure spam protection on my own page too, I’ve decided to continue.

I deactivated it from WordPress, but can’t delete it. There’s an uninstall script on the server that should run from the Admin console when you choose Delete. I’ll run the script from the server, but this is very disappointing. Then after running the uninstall, clear the opcache.

The uninstall script does not delete the related database tables, so to completely remove this plugin and any unintended effects, you need to drop the following tables from your site’s database:

    wp_recaptcha_gdpr_details_rgd
    wp_recaptcha_gdpr_message_rgm
    wp_recaptcha_gdpr_stamp_rgs

Then reset PHP to clear the opcache.

This restored the Add to Cart button functionality on my site. (which was caused by my mistakenly flagging a message from the shopping cart as spam, so it effectively broke the button.) However, I have reason to believe that this plugin has been flagging numerous legitimate form submissions on my site.

I would like to suggest that the developer of this plugin post a message in the Admin dashboard announcing that he had decided to sunset this plugin, so everyone who has it installed will be aware.

For the record, since others will read this: the plugin is not being sunset. The quoted sentence says the opposite: support stopped for a while and then continued. It is a one-person project, so answers come when they come.

Moving a message to spam has no side effects; it only changes the folder the message is listed in. Your Add to Cart problem had a different cause, which I have since reproduced: a shopper who clicked before the invisible check had finished could be rejected, and in some shops that one rejection then blocked other shoppers of the same product as well. Since 6.2.0, released today, the cart is not checked at all, so this cannot happen again. Deleting the plugin from the admin failed because of a bug in the uninstall routine; that is fixed in 6.2.0 too.

Hi Matthias, Thanks for looking into this. (I’m a one-person operation, too, so I understand!) I’ll install v6.2.0 to see if it fixes the Add to Cart problem. Also, thanks for fixing the delete from the Admin.
