• I know the restore function has been deleted from modern versions, but I still need to restore my backup someway. The first step is take a .sql file from backup archive and import it into database, but what should I do next? Will just unpacking the zip archive on server work? And how can I migrate onto another host or database with BackWPup?
    Sorry for engrish.

    Hello,
the restore is on of the next thinks we are working on.

Yes, upload the files from the archive and change the database settings in the wp-config.php. If you not backup the WordPress files you must upload it too.

The migration to another domain is not so easy. But there are many articles in the web for doing it.

Me too. I need the “restore” functionality. Here’s my experience:

I wanted to do a restore. My backup file (using pretty much the BackWPup out-of-the-box defaults) is 200Mb. On reading your web page, I tried using the Adminer plugin but that failed (presumably because it has a limit of 32Mb on the size of the import file – I’ve asked the author why he had such a tiny limit on the file size – no answer yet). phpMyAdmin has a limit of 1024Mb so I tried to import the backup file. It was being imported from my PC and that was a slow process with a file that big. After repeated attempts where the import would just “die” I had to give up. I’ve had to revert to Plan B (which was to try to fix my site another way which seems to have worked but is not really ideal).

Thanks for the great plugin. Now if only I could use it to restore my web site.
