How to remove entire comments section
-
You can use the plugin Disable Comments to completely remove comments from your blog. Or, when editing individual pages, uncheck “Allow Comments” in the Discussion area. If you don’t see the Discussion area, click Screen Options on the top right and ensure that Discussion is checked.
Thanks Andrew –
Using the plugin “Disable Comments” – does that remove the entire comments section – so that when someone goes to by blog – they don’t even see the words related to the comments?
And if this is the way to do what I want – where do I start?
Where do I find this plugin and how do I actually change it?
I am not interested in anyone posting comments at all – so editing individual pages would not be of interest.

Yes, it should hide the whole thing.

I’m happy to give you step by step instructions, but fair warning, owning and operating a website will require you to develop some level of technical skill if you want to extend any functionality beyond what comes stock with the software you’re using, i.e. changing text colors, moving pieces of the page around, or, in this case, disabling comments. Google will become your friend, but most people on these forums are very helpful.
This page will describe the process really better than I can: http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins#Finding_Plugins
But, if you’d rather see the step by step here:
1. Log in to your administrator area
2. Click Plugins on the menu on the left
3. Click Add New at the top
4. Search for disable comments
5. Install disable comments
6. Activate it
7. In the settings menu on the left hand menu, click, “Disable Comments”
8. Select “Everywhere” and then click Save.Hello Andrew –
Thank you once again – especially for the detailed instructions.
I have been learning all about operating my website – doing a lot of Googling. Removing the comments section was just too far along for me.
I really do appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I will work on this and report back.
Mike
Well, Okay –
I found a disable comments plugin (Version 0.9 – written by Samir Shah) and successfully installed and activated it. I then posted on my blog – http://www.humantesting.com.
However, the entire comments section is still visible. I really don’t want that section to be there on the screen.
Did I do something wrong?
Thanks again –
Mike
Did you do steps 7 and 8? Just activating the plugin isn’t enough.
Yes Andrew –
I did those exactly.
I am of the opinion that this plug-in has disabled comments from being posted – but has not removed the entire comments section so that it is not visible.
Mike
I went to your site and I can’t find an article that I can comment on. Can you show me an example where the comments section is still enabled?
Hello Andrew –
You are right – the comments section is closed.
What I am trying to do is to eliminate the entire section of comments from the site completely.
All that I would want would be what I post (and preferably the date).
Thanks again –
Mike

Hello –
I am using Suffusion. I am also very non technical. Can someone please tell me in the most basic step-by-step way – how to remove the entire comments section from my blog?
In a perfect world – I would not have any comments section visible when someone goes to read my blog.
However, I would have the date visible (the date seems to be part of the comments section – I could be wrong)
I have searched for this subject on the forums and found some answers detailing certain code to remove – but these instructions were too complicated for me to follow.
I really do need the simple step-by-step instructions – where to first start, next step, next step, etc. – to be able to understand the procedure.
Many thanks in advance –
Mike
