This might help, but I wouldnt worry about it… 44KB isn’t a large amount of data.
I’m also not sure how it will interplay with various plugins you may be using and/or the admin bar (if you’re displaying it) at the top of your page.
Thanks for your reply.

I beg to differ. Especially when I take the time to optimise even 1 kb images.

Thanks, I had found that page prior to starting this thread but it didn’t make sense. They lost me at the first line, “Try deregistering that stylesheet”
There is some code provided on the page but it doesn’t seem like it is simply something you stick in functions.php…and it doesn’t work anyway, according to the poster himself
(Besides, doesn’t the functions.php simply get overwritten when there’s an update, and is it not the standard advice to put changes in child themes?)
Ah, it looks like the functions.php gets overwritten on update only in the main theme folder and not the child theme folder.
So the above solution works. Just posting this update for anyone else who comes across this thread.
The code does remove the admin bar (which I don’t mind). But it does seem to make changes to some fonts displayed on the page. I’ll need to look into that a bit more.
