I am not a computer whiz, infact most of the terminology confuses this old brain but at 67 yrs of age am trying to rebuild my website for my dairy goat herd.
I have done this so far http://mizoulea.net/newsite but I do not want any comments showing on any page like in a blog, I just do not know how to remove that part. I have a special plugin for the pedigrees that will soon be working but i wish to have a list of animals on the left like in my original site http://www.mizoulea.net.
It has taken some time to get this far but I do need expert advice as to what to do next.

  • In Settings > Discussion, deselect the option that allows comments (the third check box). That should get rid of the comment form. If you have existing pages/posts where it still appears, edit that page and turn off comments for that particular entry.

I have tried that and still the box appears, It could be that I am working on slow internet connection as it is Sunday and Satellite connection is very poor.
3rd one down is this: Allow people to post comments on new articles
I have unchecked that one.saved the change. will try again later if internet still works ok.

So far so good. That will only remove comments on future posts though. First clear your browser cache to see changes.

As I mentioned above, you’ll have to remove existing comment boxes from previously published pages manually by going to the edit screen for each page where you see an unwanted comment box. Below the area where you write content, there should be a box called Discussion, with a check-box to allow comments. If you don’t see that box, go up to the very top of the page to the Screen Options tab, open it, and select Discussion. Then you should see it down below.

Don’t forget to clear your browser cache to see changes. Let me know how it goes.

This is where people like me get stuck, not knowing the terminology,”clear your browser cache” I am using firefox and don’t know where to look. All instructions assume we know what is being said, I understand the rest you wrote but not the cache bit, i don’t even know what that is.grin.
    Thank you for being patient.

    No problem. 🙂
Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Cached Web Content > Clear Now
Click that a couple times to make sure. The cache stores the data from a site visit so it can serve it to you again faster. In our case, we want a fresh view, not an old one.

Don’t hesitate to ask about something when I assume too much. Cheers.

    YAAA! the box is gone.
Thank you so very much, even with my slow satellite connection I was able to do it…. I have kept the notes safely as i have 2 other sites of mine to do…. You are wonderful there is hope yet to save my data.

You’re very welcome. I’m glad you got it worked out. Please mark this resolved if you don’t mind, and just start a new thread if you hit any more snags.
