How to remove Archives Widget
-
Hi, I’ve just noticed that I’m using a very old version of this theme. I’m not sure how to update it, as there’s no option to download the latest version.
However, my query is how do I remove the Archive widget that is showing on the right hand side of the Home Page. I am using this theme for a very simple website and only need to have the main page plus the required legal pages.
I can’t find how to delete the widget, as there only seems to be an option to add it to another widget but there’s no option to delete it altogether.
Can someone please advise how I remove ‘Archive’ from the website. Also, how do I update to the latest version?
Thanks.

Hi Nikib3,
- You didn’t mention which theme you are using.
- However, It should be easy to control widgets in any theme.
- As admin user, go to the wp admin and click appearance->widgets.
- On the page, you see various widget areas.
- In one area, you will see the archive widget you want to remove.(most probably in the primary widget area)
- Just drag and drop it on the same page on the left bottom area where the heading is inactive widgets.
- This will remove the widget from your page.
- If anytime you think to show it again on the page side bar, you can move it again to the (active) widget area.
Hi Prasad, many thanks for responding. Sorry about that. I’m using the Responsive Theme (that’s the name of the theme).
I think this theme must be quite different to normal versions, as there’s no way of deleting the widgets. You can’t move them, which makes me think that the problem may be that this is a fairly old version of the Theme. Here’s a list of the widgets (I’ve never see this many before):
Main Sidebar
Right Sidebar
Left Sidebar
Left Sidebar Half Page
Right Sidebar Half Page
Home Widget 1
Home Widget 2
Home Widget 3
Gallery Sidebar
Colophon Widget
Top Widget
Footer WidgetThe ‘In Archive’ widget appears in the inactive widgets, but it is still showing up on the home page, right hand side.
Do you know if there is a more recent version of this? That may solve the issue.
Again, thanks for your quick response.
