How to put header image in container?

I would like to put my header image and all subsequent header images into a container, how would I go about doing that?

Also I would like to have the image be centered within the container, how would I go about setting that up?

I have tried several methods and also tried to use firebug to try and figure it out, but I can’t figure it out on my own. Somehow when I try and put a container for the header image, the image moves and stays to the left.
