Couple possibilities:
1. You’re not using a supported browser. WebP only works on Chrome, Opera, and most Android devices.
2. The filename is misleading. View this in Chrome: http://shreejee.co/wp-content/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/test.png
You should see a green WebP image (at least that is what I saw when I loaded that url in Chrome). Even though it looks like it is loading the .png file, the server replaces it without rewriting the url.
Thank you for your reply.
I have been testing on Chrome for Windows and Android
The EWWW dashboard is showing the green WebP and the rules were also written successfully. (I could verify it by looking at .htaccess in root)
So is this something to do with php variables or the hosting server since .webP is not being rendered?
Please guide.
Thanks!
The green webp image tells you that your server IS serving webp images. They will not have the webp file extension, and I believe this allows a user to download the original image instead of the webp, but it will display the webp version on your site. If you have some other proof that it is not working that way, let me know.
