highlight the word or phrase you want to link and click on link
instead of adding url add #name (no http://) name can be anything you want
Then where ever you want that link to go to on page
<div id=”name”>
The content of your div here.
</div>
PS name needs to be same one you used when you created a link.
Thank you for trying to help me, but I still can’t figure it out.
I highlighted the word (my name on the welcome page) that I want people to click on to take them to my Bio page. I hit the link button and deleted the http:// and entered “#heatherbio.”
Then I went to my bio page where I wanted the anchor (where it says my name at the beginning of my bio, halfway down the page) and I entered the html code you suggested. It looks like this:
<div id=”heatherbio”>
Heather Shannon, M.Ed., LPC
</div>
When I click on “Heather’s” on the welcome page now, nothing happens.
More help please : )
I can see how that was confusing, but no, I didn’t have a period in the link. I was just putting a period at the end of my sentence and the proper way to do that is inside the quotes. Just good grammar, not lousy html. I wish it was that simple though!
If you are linking to a particular spot on a different page than the one you’re linking from, then you also need to add the page slug to the anchor. So let’s say your bios page is http://www.myblog.com/bios/
Your anchor link will look like:
<a href="/bios#heatherbio">See Heather's bio</a>
…or enter /bios#heatherbio in the link pop-up.
I just looked at your site – here’s the actual link you can use in the link pop-up:
/?page_id=11#heatherbio
That will take you here:
http://hwcaofchicago.com/?page_id=11#heatherbio
Sweet! Got it now : ) Thanks for the help.
Good stuff! If you would please mark this thread as “resolved” it would be appreciated. Helps everyone keep better track of whose issues are still outstanding. Thanks!
